1st Place - Bonita Bollinger

Bonita is from York, PA. She went to college for physics, but painting has been one of Bonita’s favorite hobbies for over twenty years. Her ideal painting technique is to use watercolors on canvas. She loves to paint wild and domestic animals. Blissful Bonita Art Studio & Gallery opened in 2011. The studio is a casual center for creativity. Bonita hosts paint parties and fundraisers, and she provides individual and small group art lessons. The gallery showcases local artwork and features new artist exhibitions every year.

I am a 2018 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and will be a student at Millersville University this fall studying Biology and Art. I have been drawing since 4th grade, and art has become a huge passion ever since. I am a silver key medalist for the Scholastic Art Awards; I have painted windows in York for Halloween sponsored by Maple Donuts; and I have participated in the York Art Fest’s Chalk Walk the past two years. More recently, I have been working with digital art and animation and have participated in independent animation collaborations. Although I am currently unsure what career path I will pursue, I know that art will always be a big part of my life.

Sea cycle - Keep it clean

I’m a longtime resident of York County, and my passion for art was fueled in high school by my art teacher, Mrs. Muriel Groff. I went on to study art at Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts and Millersville University. It’s been a pleasure for me to share my passion for art through teaching students of all ages, and currently I’m volunteering as an art teacher for House of Hope in Glen Rock and as a worship painter for Providence Community Church of Spring Grove. For over 10 years, I have coached the York Home School Association’s Envirothon team. It’s encouraging to see conservation embraced by these young people and so many others in our community. It means a lot to me to be selected for this project because I believe that art work is heart work. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my artwork in a way that contributes to conservation awareness through the “Street2Creek” project
