3rd PRIZE - Molly cooper
My name is Molly Cooper. I am a Cardiac ICU nurse at York Hospital, and I currently live in downtown York with my two cats! I have always enjoyed art in all types of forms of media, from photography to fiber arts to painting. I am very passionate about the state of the world today. This mural ties together several things for me: Raising awareness about the environment, using art to benefit our ecosystem, and inspiring people to appreciate the beautiful Earth where we live. I am very happy to say I received the Scholastic Silver Key for my artwork in the past, and my watercolor paintings are published in a local guide to PA wildlife.
people’s choice - Makenzi Reed
My name is Makenzi Reed and I live in York County. I graduated from Eastern York High School in 2022 and am now entering my sophomore year at Elizabethtown College. I am majoring in Environmental Science and am passionate about wildlife conservation. This summer, I am a Seasonal Land Steward for the Lancaster Conservancy. I am grateful to be part of a team that builds and maintains new hiking trails, manages invasive species, and protects local ecosystems. I was fortunate enough to also participate in the 2022 Street 2 Creek Storm Drain Art Contest. I am a self-taught artist and primarily paint acrylic landscapes. Outside of my passion for painting, I love to go hiking, kayaking, and camping!
